India Coal Co. intends to build a large methanol plant
Indian Coal Corporation (CIL), one of the world's largest coal producers, recently said it had decided to start building large methanol plants because of the relaxation of government restrictions. Anil Kumar Jha, chairman of Indian Coal Company, said that according to the idea of developing clean energy put forward by the Indian government, the company planned to build a large methanol production plant with an annual methanol production of 676,000 tons. The plant is expected to be built in Dankuni, about 10 kilometers north of Calcutta, the capital of West Bengal. Jeha said that the feasibility study of the project has been completed.
