Kemira to Acquire SIDRA Wasserchemie, Expanding European Water Treatment Footprint
Kemira has announced the acquisition of SIDRA Wasserchemie, further strengthening its water treatment solutions business in Europe. The transaction is subject to merger clearance by the German Federal Cartel Office and is expected to close in the first half of the year.
The purchase price is approximately €75 million, subject to customary adjustments.
SIDRA Wasserchemie is a family-owned producer of coagulants, operating two production facilities in Germany and serving customers across Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. In 2024, the company generated revenue of approximately €40 million and EBITDA of around €10 million. Upon completion of the transaction, more than 60 SIDRA employees are expected to transfer to Kemira.
According to Tuija Pohjolainen-Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Water Solutions at Kemira, the acquisition offers significant synergies and represents another key milestone in the company’s strategy to double the revenue of its water treatment business. The deal will expand Kemira’s footprint and market presence in Western and Central Europe—core regions where demand for coagulants is continuing to grow.
The acquisition aligns with Kemira’s long-term strategy of focusing on high-value water treatment chemicals and strengthening its position in essential infrastructure markets across Europe.
