The second working meeting of the Ninth Special Committee of the Coatings and Coatings Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society was held in Fenghua, Ningbo, on March 18, 2019. The Secretariat of the Special Committee reported on its work in 2018. The working plan for 2019 was adopted and the preliminary results of industry data statistics for 2018 were discussed. The statistical results of powder coatings industry in 2018 will be reported to all members.

In 2018, the sales volume of polyester resin for powder coatings of representative enterprises in China increased by 12.8% and 14% respectively, and the average price of polyester resin increased by about 131 yuan/t.

In 2018, the sales volume of epoxy resin for powder coatings of representative enterprises in China increased by 6%, 18.8% and the average price of epoxy resin increased by 1805 yuan/t.

In 2018, the sales volume of TGIC curing agent for powder coatings of representative enterprises in China increased by 12.9% and 6% respectively, and the average price of TGIC curing agent decreased by about 2330 yuan/t.

In 2018, the sales volume of HAA curing agent for powder coatings of representative enterprises in China increased by 15.4% and 9% year-on-year. The average price of HAA curing agent decreased by about 1364 yuan/t year-on-year.

In 2018, sales of powder coatings additives in representative enterprises in China increased by 3.9%, sales increased by 10.5%, and average price increased by about 1849 yuan/t.

In 2018, the sales volume of powder coatings of representative enterprises in China increased by 5.5% and 7.1% respectively, and the average price of powder coatings increased by about 118 yuan/t.

According to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the cumulative output of coatings in China in 2018 was 17.598 million tons, compared with 16.619 million tons in 2017 (revised), an increase of 5.9% over the same period last year.

According to the sales of polyester resins, epoxy resins, additives, curing agents, NPG and the development of downstream industries, the sales volume of thermosetting powder coatings in China in 2018 was about 1.76 million tons, an increase of 9.7% over the previous year, exceeding the growth of the total amount of coatings in China.
