Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation is a general company formed by the merger of Mitsubishi Kasei Corporation and Mitsubishi Oil & Chemical Corporation on October 1, 1994. Mitsubishi Chemical leads the chemical industry in Japan in terms of sales. Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation is the largest chemical company in Japan.

 

The company offers its broad range of products through its three main divisions: functional materials and plastic products (including information and electronic products, specialty chemicals, and pharmaceuticals); petrochemicals; and carbon and agricultural products. Although functional materials such as aluminum, sheet plastic products, and plastic packaging account for more than 55% of sales, the company is focusing on specialty chemicals and pharmaceuticals as its long-term goal.

21. Asahi Kasei

Asahi Kasei Corporation was founded on May 21, 1931, and started with the synthesis of ammonia through hydroelectric power generation for the first time in Japan, and has expanded into three fields: the "Materials" field, which consists of the textile, chemical, and electronic materials businesses; the "Housing" field, which consists of the housing and building materials businesses; and the pharmaceuticals field.
