Sales of L'Occitane increased 18.8% year-on-year in its first fiscal quarter

On July 23, L'Occitane  released unaudited business data for three months up to 30 June 2019. During the reporting period, the net sales of Oshudan amounted to about 352.5 million euros, up 18.8% at the reported exchange rate and 16.2% at the fixed exchange rate. ELEMIS became a subsidiary of the group in March 2019, and its sales have been consolidated since April 2019. The announcement of shows that the sales growth of LOccitane en Provence brand has further accelerated from 3.5% in fiscal year 2019 to 4.1%. As of June 30, 2019, the number of shop networks of Oshudan Group increased by 3 to 1575. The unaudited operating data of Oshudan for three months up to 30 June 2019 calculated by region, the UK is the highest growth market driven by the growth recovery of ELEMIS and LOccitane Provence brand, with an increase of 253.0% in local currency. Other countries recorded good results, up 18.7%. Brazil and Russia recorded double-digit growth of 13.6% and 16.4% respectively. Driven by electronic channels, China maintained a strong growth rate of 8.3% during the reporting period, direct sales of Oshudan accounted for 68.6% of net sales, reaching 242 million euros, an increase of 9.6% compared with the same period last year at the reported exchange rate. At the fixed exchange rate, the increase was 7.0%. The growth was mainly attributed to the contribution of online shopping malls and stores opened last year. Compared with last year, sales of the group's online direct sales channels (including ELEMIS) grew by 49.9% at a fixed exchange rate, equivalent to 17.2% of total direct sales. The same-store sales grew by 2.0%. 

As of 30 June 2019, three months after the launch of successful products and seasonal activities, LOccitane en Provence achieved growth recovery in major markets in Europe and Japan. The growth of the brand accelerated to 4.1%, compared with 3.5% in fiscal year 2019. ELEMIS continues to expand as planned, increasing by 9.3% in the first three months of fiscal year 2020 (unaudited). Core markets in the United Kingdom and the United States achieved double-digit growth, but were offset by temporary weakness in shipping channels caused by recent inventory control measures. Excluding shipping channels, ELEMIS grew by 23.8%. LimeLife, on the other hand, saw a 14.8% drop in sales last year as sales increased during the reinvention of the brand from LimeLight to LimeLife.
