Why Is Glycol Used As Coolant In Electric Vehicles?

The correct answer is basically no effect,because the internal combustion engine of a fuel car can reach a temperature ofabout 100 degrees Celsius when running, far beyond the temperature; andlong-running vehicles do not necessarily consume coolant quickly, so if thereis a rapid reduction in the situation, the probability is that the fault iscaused.
The high temperature in summer has littleeffect on the coolant, but the impact on the cooling system is relativelylarge.
For example, the rubber seals will expandand contract, the gasket of the cooling water tank may leak due to aging, thewarm air tank (the warm air of the car relies on high temperature antifreezeheating) may also leak, and the valve body of some switches does not excludethe possibility of leakage; so after excessive loss, the cooling system,including the engine gasket, should be systematically overhauled, and attentionshould be paid to checking the engine oil.
Scientists explore why is glycol used ascoolant in electric vehicles. Some old vehicles cooling system is prone toleakage, which if the cylinder gasket loss, coolant will flow into the cylinderis evaporated, or along the cylinder wall is pressed into the piston; pistonbelow the crankcase, the bottom of the crankcase is called the oil sump, whichstores the oil.
The main component of coolant is water andglycol, mixed with oil will lead to an increase in the total amount, crankcasepressure abnormalities will destroy the seal, which is typical of the increasein oil; and the next step will be oil emulsification, to put it bluntly is theoil "degradation", gradually lose lubrication, sealing, corrosionprevention, cleaning and other functions, which will seriously affect theengine machine This will seriously affect the service life of the engine.
Coolant will naturally decrease, thestronger the performance, the greater the rate and degree of reduction. Someexperimental data verifies why is glycol used as coolant in electric vehicles.
Coolant will evaporate naturally and alsoevaporate because of high temperature; the ideal operating temperature variesfrom engine to engine, some internal combustion engines only need about 90degrees, while some high performance machines will exceed 110 degrees; highertemperature will make coolant evaporate and reduce faster, but the evaporatedpart is mainly water, because the evaporation rate of glycol is very low andthe loss is very small.
Generally 3~6 months, coolant slipping fromMAX (high level) to the middle position is not exaggerated, and a few vehiclesshrinking to MIN (low level) in about a year is not a fault.
So the next thing you need to master is howto replenish the reduced coolant, the solution is actually very simple.
The water that can be used to replenish thecoolant is these two, tap water, purified water, filtered water, mineral watercan not, because these waters still contain minerals, magnesium hydroxide andcalcium carbonate will be precipitated in the high temperature environment, theformation of substances commonly known as "water alkali"; thesescales will block the water tank and pipeline, will directly affect theoperation of the engine stability.
So the water must be used to really noimpurities of water, distilled water is more common, can be used to replace thecoolant.
The reason why it is recommended to addwater is very simple, because the coolant evaporation reduction is mainlywater, if the same coolant supplement, the result will be a gradual increase inthe proportion of glycol, the proportion of water gradually reduced; this willhave an impact on the coolant fluidity and freezing point, while adding watercan maintain the original ratio, it is generally recommended that after 3 to 4times to supplement distilled water, the next time to supplement the coolant.
