China's hair care market scale expands, hair loss products attract attention

Recently, Chinese women and young people are very concerned about the problem of hair loss. Enterprises must formulate strategies to actively open the high-end market. According to KOTRA Tianjin Trade Center, the growth of Chinese consumers' income and the change of personal aesthetic concept have driven the growth of hair loss related industries. According to the daily beauty information forecast of professional beauty product market analysis organization, the market scale of China's medical and beauty related industries will exceed 100 billion yuan by 2028. According to Euromonitor's forecast, the market size of China's hair care industry will be about 53 billion yuan in 2018, up 4% year-on-year, and 55 billion yuan in 2019, up 4.3% year-on-year. According to the analysis of aimei.com, compared with the needs of Chinese people for hair loss treatment, private hair loss hospitals and devices have a huge market potential due to the lack of data and equipment related to public medical hair loss in China. People who buy anti hair loss products are mainly distributed in areas with high income. In terms of regional distribution, Guangdong has the highest proportion, accounting for 17.79%, followed by Zhejiang 8.17%, Jiangsu 7.54%, Shandong 5.25% and Shanghai 5.11%.
Especially in China, "post-90s generation" has become "baldness", hair loss has become a hot topic of the young generation in China. According to the survey of "user's health consumption insight report" of Jingdang express medicine, one out of every six Chinese is a hair loss patient. According to the survey of aimei.com, the patients aged 20-30 have the highest proportion of hair loss. In terms of the proportion of hair loss in all age groups, 32% are under 18 years old, 24.7% are 18-25 years old, 41.9% are 26-30 years old, 25.4% are 31-40 years old, and 4.8% are over 41 years old. According to the analysis, the main reasons for the increase in the proportion of young hair loss patients are lack of exercise, excessive pressure, emotional instability and smoking. With the increase of people's concern for hair loss management, it is more and more obvious to emphasize the effect of anti hair loss. In China's shampoo market, the proportion of anti hair loss shampoo products is only 2%. Although the market is small, it is growing steadily. According to the statistics of aimedia data center, the market scale of anti hair loss shampoo was 807 million yuan in 2017 and 1.13 billion yuan in 2018, up 12.8% and 15.3% respectively compared with the previous year. It is estimated that by 2020, the market size will reach 1.5 billion yuan. According to Euromonitor, the growth rate of anti hair loss shampoo is 4.2%, higher than that of ordinary shampoo (2.8%).
The average growth rate of hair loss care products in the next five years is 10%. At present, the sales pattern of anti hair washing water in China is mainly divided into: most of the local brands are mainly supplied to hair salons and beauty salons, and the foreign imported brands are mainly sold through Internet channels. From the perspective of overall sales volume, although Chinese local brands occupy an advantage, import brands rank higher in online sales volume and consumer favorite brands. In the anti desquamation shampoo market, the growth of Korean products using Korean materials is also prominent. In Jingdong Mall, the Korean brand "Lv" once rose to the fourth largest shampoo brand in 2019. In addition to hair loss nursing such as shampoo and external hair production liquid, more and more attention has been paid to the new functional medical auxiliary instruments with laser, infrared and massage functions. The utility model has the advantages of simple use and quick effect. People related to KOTRA said: "in the past, the elderly men were the main consumer groups in the hair loss care market. Recently, the hair loss market is changing to the 20-30-year-old young generation and women. With the increase of post-80s and post-90s hair loss patients, it may be an opportunity to enter the high-end market."
