BASF and Dongli sign supply agreement for automobile industry
Dongli advanced composite materials and BASF signed a manufacturing and supply agreement focusing on the production of continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRT) strips for the automotive and industrial markets. "[BASF] has been an important partner of Dongli advanced composite materials for many years," said CEO Keisuke Ishii. "This new supply agreement enhances our ability to produce high-quality and reasonable price strips for our customers." The supply agreement increases capacity and provides greater commercial use for CFRT, which will help to use this advanced material for lightweight structural components in a wide range of industrial markets. With CFRT materials, automakers will be able to design and rapidly produce optimized components at a lower cost, while also using the latest manufacturing methods, such as automated stamping and overmolding. "By developing innovative lightweight composite technologies for automotive applications, this collaboration highlights the firm commitment of our two companies to driving sustainable solutions," said Jeff dealmeida, vice president of high performance materials transportation in North America at BASF the CFRT of Toray advanced composite materials is compatible with BASF's extensive Ultramid blending materials, which enables multi-functional components to be produced efficiently in fewer processing steps and in a labor-saving way than many traditional methods. BASF's Ultramid products include unique and innovative materials developed to optimize structural applications.
