BASF plans to invest in a 20,000-ton automotive paint project
Zhao Hanming, general manager of BASF Coatings (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. said that Jiangmen is an important city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the expansion of capital in Jiangmen is in line with the company's deployment strategy in southern China. The company will use Jiangmen as an R&D center for automotive coatings in the Asia-Pacific region and establish an automotive high-quality coating application center.
It is reported that BASF plans to invest an additional 275 million yuan to build an environmentally friendly automotive coating expansion project with an annual output of 20,000 tons in the high-tech zone. BASF Coatings (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the top 500 BASF companies in the world. It is the first wholly-owned company established by BASF in Jiangmen.
In 2016, BASF acquired Guangdong Yinfan Chemical Co., Ltd., which specializes in automotive refinishing. After completing the acquisition, BASF established a new legal entity, BASF Coatings (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province to take over and further expand the automotive refinishing business of the former Yinfan Company.
BASF said that by acquiring this advanced automotive refinish paint production base, it will strengthen its market share in China's coatings products. After the acquisition was completed, the original Yinfan product line was included in the successful international brand series including BASF Parrot®, R-M®, baslac® and NORBIN® to expand BASF's automotive refinishing product portfolio in the Asia Pacific region.
