Asia's New Polyethylene Capacity Will Lead Global Capacity Growth
GlobalData, the world's leading data analytics company, expects Asia to lead global polyethylene capacity growth in the next few years. From 2021 to 2026, Asia's new polyethylene capacity will account for 45% of the world's new capacity.
Asia will lead the world in new capacity additions from new polyethylene projects and existing polyethylene expansion projects. From 2021 to 2026, a total of 67 new and expanded polyethylene projects have been announced in Asia, with an estimated new polyethylene production capacity of 27 million tons per year.
From 2021 to 2026, China will add 10.39 million tons/year of polyethylene production capacity, ranking first in Asia; India will add 8.99 million tons/year of polyethylene production capacity, ranking second in Asia.
