Methanol Shipments Immune from Jiangsu Logistics Restriction

China TexNet 2017-09-22

Methanol shipments will not be affected by logistics restrictions at ports in Jiangsu in Oct.

Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration issued on Sep 18, 2017 a Notice on the Implementation of Specific Safety Supervision Measures in Specific Period. The Regulation is put forward to ensure maritime safety along Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province by taking specific measures during one week before to three days after the 19th CPC National Congress which will convene in Beijing on Oct 18.

According to the official document, ships that carry high-dangerous chemicals in X or Y category cannot navigate the Yangtze River in Jiangsu Province or gain access to the ports along the River in Jiangsu (ports including Taicang, Zhangjiagang, Nantong, Changshu and Zhenjiang). Methanol is included in Category Y, but not listed as high-dangerous and immune from logistics restrictions during Oct 11-28.
