I will mostly be focusing on the more practical side of chemistry because that is what I'm most familiar with. I think though this is a good introduction to the exciting world of chemistry. Chemistry is all around us. It is in the clothes we wear and the homes we live in, and it makes our lives much more comfortable. This blog post will be about how chemistry affects our daily lives.

The chemicals used in synthetic fibers such as acrylic, nylon, and polyester are also quite common. It is hard to live without clothes ever since people invented it. However, we do not always realize that clothes are made of chemicals or which chemicals they are made of.

Chemicals from crude oil make up 75% of our petroleum based products such as gasoline and diesel fuels. Crude oil has a lot of different constituent that include organic compounds that have played a vital part in our history and the modern world we live in today. Some of the common compounds that are found in crude oil includes waxes and many other things. The minerals in crude oil are also very important and are used sequentially as well as economically. For example, chlorine is a chemical consisting of the carbon atom attached to three chlorine atoms. This is a very useful compound. It is most commonly known for its use in pool water purification, but it is mostly used for making plastics and pesticides. There are many different uses of chemistry in daily life such as those listed above. I think one important aspect of chemistry that we all need to appreciate the most is that it makes life easier and better than ever before.

Chemical food additives are made for a reason. They make foods taste better, and they keep us from getting sick because of them. Most of them are safe for consumption, but there are still some that not all of us can consume by eating. For example, MSG (monosodium glutamate) is an amino acid that is used in many different food products such as soups, meats, processed vegetables and canned fish product. By consuming foods with MSG our brains are able to better recognize and receive the signals we send through the nerve cells.

Due to its useful characteristics, this element has many different uses such as in pesticides and refrigerants.

5. Transportation

Most of the cars and planes that you see today are made with a lot of different chemicals. Cars are highly dependent on mechanical parts such as pistons and crankshafts, which use a lot of various chemicals to function. Therefore, if anything were to happen to these machines then we would have very big problems. Cars need their petrol, oil, air filters and coolants in order for them to run efficiently.

6. Household appliances

These types of machines are very useful to have especially in our homes. They make our lives easier as they can just be plugged into the wall and operate immediately. The daily use of these machines have made our lives easier and less time consuming. Some common household appliances are dishwashers, washing machines, refrigerators and microwaves.
