The first set of domestically produced aromatics production unit
Aromatics are the important foundation of chemical industry, widely used in three major synthetic materials, medicine, national defense, pesticide, building materials and other fields. P-xylene is one of the most widely used aromatics. The data shows that in the past 15 years, the annual growth rate of p-xylene consumption in China is as high as 20%, but the self-sufficiency rate is only 50%. One important reason is that aromatics production technology relies on imports for a long time, the technical cost is expensive, and the industrial development is restricted by people. Through unremitting efforts, Sinopec has successfully developed a complete set of high-efficiency environmental protection aromatics technology with complete independent intellectual property rights. In October 2011, Yangzi petrochemical industrial demonstration unit was put into operation, marking the successful development and application of high-efficiency and environmental protection aromatics complete technology; in December 2013, Hainan refining and Chemical Co., Ltd. successfully promoted and applied the 600000tpa xylene project, becoming the first domestically made aromatics production unit with full independent intellectual property rights in China. On January 8, 2016, "development and application of high efficiency and environmental protection aromatics complete technology" project won the 2015 National Science and technology progress award. At the same time of independent research and development of aromatics production technology, key equipment is also made in China. The complete set of technology package, engineering design and management software independently developed make China not only become a complete set of aromatics technology patentee, but also an EPC contractor of engineering construction.
