Negative Factors Push Shandong n-Butanol Prices Further Downward
From the commodity market analysis system, it can be seen that at the beginning of February, the n-butanol market in Shandong, China, experienced a fluctuating downward trend. Entering this week, the n-butanol market continued its downward trend, with negotiation focuses continuously moving towards lower levels. Major manufacturers have successively reduced the selling prices of n-butanol, widening the price gap between high and low. The lowest market price has dropped to 6,050 CNY/ton. As of February 10th, the reference price for n-butanol in Shandong is around 6,050-6,700 CNY/ton.
Analysis of Core Impact Factors
Supply Side: Currently, the n-butanol market in Shandong region has ample supply overall. Some major factories in Shandong lowered their quotes on February 9th, leading to a decline in market prices.
Demand Side: Before the Spring Festival, downstream industries such as coatings and plasticizers have nearly completed their restocking, leading to waning purchasing enthusiasm. Buyers are increasingly reluctant to accept higher-priced supplies, and market transactions have become sluggish.
Future Market Prediction
In the short term, leading up to the Chinese New Year, it is expected that the n-butanol market in China will continue to show a weak consolidation or range-bound fluctuation pattern, with the transaction focus possibly continuing to shift slightly downward. In the long term, after the holiday, the market needs to pay close attention to the resumption progress of downstream production, the price trend of propylene as a raw material, and the operating conditions of facilities. If the demand recovery falls below expectations, there will still be downward pressure on prices.
