Post Show Report Interlakokraska 2020

Interlakokraska targets manufacturers, suppliers and users of paints and coatings. It promotes networking and demonstration of the latest equipment, products and services. It is Russia's largest trade show of the industry boasting 23 years of history. The majority of visitors are business owners, top managers, department heads, and area managers.

Show highlights

The first Startup CoatUp showcase demonstrated developments from prototypes to ready products of small innovative enterprises. Participants had a great opportunity to generate contacts with investors and the industry’s major players.   

The Employment Centre at Interlakokraska offered consultations on recruitment and career. 

Supporting events

The main event of the programme was the International Coatings Forum 2020, which was organised by the Russian Coatings Journal and EXPOCENTRE AO. This year, its main topic was coating additives and binders.

A draft of technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union about safety of paints and coatings was discussed during a panel, which was organised by the Centrlack Association and EXPOCENTRE AO. The participants included deputy division head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade's Department for the Chemical and Technological Industry and Bioengineering Technologies Yury Sychov, head of the Centrlack Association Gennady Averyanov, President of the Quality Paint Association Sergey Fedotov, Rosregistr expert Elena Tarasova, representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Coordinating Informational Center of CIS Member States on Approximation of Regulatory Practices, top managers of leading paint and coating enterprises. 

The use of lead in paints and coatings was discussed at apanel organised by the Eco-Soglasie Center. Experts of the Center, which has an advisory status with the UN, spoke about current trends and prospects of using lead in paints, and told the audience about the activity of international organisations aimed to control and reduce the content of lead in paints and coatings.

The Lead in Paints project developed by the Eco-Soglasie Center together with the Quality Paint Association using a grant of the President of the Russian Federation.  

As one of the most important problems of the Russian paint and coating industry is the manpower, three events were devoted to this topic.

• The situation on the paint and coating industry's labor market was discussed at a briefing organised by the Russian Chemists Union, the Centrlack Association, the Council for Professional Qualification of the Chemical and Bio-Technological Complex, and EXPOCENTRE AO. The discussion involved representatives of leading industry universities, chemical enterprises, and professional unions, and focused on independent assessment of qualifications through the development of a network of specialised centers.
  
  
• A session on Using Augmented and Virtual Reality for Production and Marketing Purposes was organised by Modum Lab. Its president President Dmitry Kirillov told the audience in detail why virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) technologies should be implemented in paint and coating production, what results could be achieved by using VR/AR technologies in training and preparing technical personnel, how augmented reality should be used for servicing equipment, and how to put VR/AR solutions to effective use in production processes.
  
  
• The Vybor HR agency and EXPOCENTRE AO arranged consultations for students and young professionals to suggest ways of being competitive on the industry market, skills and competencies that need to be developed, and the right choice of an employment agency. Deputy General Director of the Moscow Agency for Innovations Ekaterina Brazhnikova told the audience about products and programmes of the Moscow government aimed to help young professionals and students build their career, think about starting up a business, familiarize themselves with the activity of technological companies, and practice their professional skills.
  
  

The exhibition featured a panel on the Russian market of paints and coatings 2020: the results of previous years and the growth potential for the coming decade.

A panel on the competitiveness of Russian paints and coatings was held by the NIITEKHIM Technical and Economic Research Institute and EXPOCENTRE AO. The participants assessed export prospects of the Russian market and impediments to exports of Russian-made paints and coatings.

One more important event was the International Conference on Paints and Coatings for Ships. The Current Market and its Prospects, which was organised by the Morskoy Flot (Maritime Fleet) magazine and EXPOCENTRE AO with support of the Centrlack Association. The conference participants discussed government measures supporting Russian shipbuilders as the driver of development of the Russian paint and coating production, relevant regulations and legislation, cons and pros of the legislative guillotine, reduced burden of production regulations, technical policy for implementing new shipbuilding and ship maintenance materials, and some other important issues of the industry.

Attika and Afaya, leading experts in the field of industrial chemistry, presented a new joint project aimed to develop fast, rational and economically viable solutions for manufacturers of paints and coatings. Blastman presented the robotic abrasive blast system of Blastman for freight cars of Belaruskali. Tecsa OOO presented innovations in quality control instruments from NEURTEK Instruments. LKM Project Engineering Company OOO presented advanced solutions for design and maintenance of hazardous and highly hazardous facilities.  Larchfield LSN showed its functional and rheology agents for finishing and decorative coatings. Aircraft Paint Technologies OOO demonstrated its APS-A and APS-M paint strippers.
