New Butene-1 product from Puget Sound willbe launched soon

2022-10-24

It is reported that the C4 comprehensive utilization project takes mixedC4, a by-product of Pujie's methanol to low carbon olefin (DMTO) plant, as rawmaterial, and produces nearly 40,000 tons of butene-1 per year throughhydrogenation, butene-1 refining, olefin isomerization and other processes.

"Butene-1 is our polyethylene synthetic copolymer monomer, whichneeds to be purchased about 30,000 tons per year. all of the mixed C4 producedby the DMTO plant is sold to foreign countries. Through comprehensiveutilization, the butene-1 produced just meets the production needs and can beproduced and used by ourselves." Xie Botao, deputy general manager ofPujie Energy and Chemical Company, said that after the C4 comprehensiveutilization project is put into operation, it is expected that the annual newoutput value will be 650 million yuan and the profit will be about 56 millionyuan, which will have a significant effect of generating efficiency and profit. This will not only greatly reduce the production cost of polyethylene, but alsoreduce the carbon and consumption of the plant.

Since the project started in May last year, Pujie Energized has beentrying hard to overcome unfavorable factors such as repeated epidemics, workingovertime and holding daily progress coordination meetings to solve outstandingproblems and keep up with the progress. In June this year, the projectconstruction pressed the "fast-forward" button and carried out thespecial action of "100 days of work" construction and the specialaction of ensuring the success of the process at one time. At the same time, the training for operators was strengthened. The energetic "00" youngworkers went out for further study for more than two months to master thetheoretical knowledge and operation requirements. They went to the equipmentunder construction for simulated operation training and examination, laying asolid foundation for the project trial run.
