Hyperkalemia
Hyperkalemia is defined as a blood potassium level higher than 5.5 mmol/L, and severe hyperkalemia is defined as a level greater than 7.0 mmol/L. Hyperkalemia often causes sudden cardiac arrest with few or no symptoms, so it should be detected and treated early.
