Restrictive cardiomyopathy is a rare type of primary cardiomyopathy. It is a cardiomyopathy characterized by fibrosis of the endocardium and subendocardial myocardium, which causes difficulty in stretching and limited filling during diastole, severe damage to the diastolic function of the heart, and normal or only slightly damaged systolic function. Among the three types of unexplained cardiomyopathy, restrictive cardiomyopathy is much less common than dilated and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This disease mainly refers to endomyocardial fibrosis (EMF) occurring in tropical regions and eosinophilic cardiomyopathy (Loffler’s cardiomyopathy) that is common in temperate regions. Clinical and experimental studies in recent years have shown that these two different types of diseases may be manifestations of the same disease at different stages. In the early stages of the disease, the clinical manifestations of the two are different, but in the later stages of the disease, the clinical manifestations are both systemic obstructive congestion. The myocardial pathological changes of the two are basically the same, so they are discussed together.
