Polycythemia
Polycythemia is characterized by red blood cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit and total blood volume significantly exceeding normal levels. In childhood, hemoglobin exceeds 180g/L (16g/dl), hematocrit is greater than 55% and the absolute value of red blood cell volume per kilogram of body weight exceeds 35ml. Relative erythrocytosis caused by blood concentration due to acute dehydration or burns can be excluded, and the disease can be diagnosed. This disease can be divided into two categories: primary and secondary. Primary is true polycythemia; secondary is mainly caused by tissue hypoxia.
