Wegener's granulomatosis
Wegener granulomatosis (WG) is a systemic necrotizing vasculitis disease with complex clinical manifestations and poor prognosis. It is characterized by granulomatous lesions throughout the respiratory tract, systemic necrotizing vasculitis and glomerulonephritis. Klinger (1931) first reported a case, which was dissected as a borderline type of polyarteritis nodosa. Wegner reported 3 cases in 1936 and 18 more in 1939. Based on biopsy and autopsy data, he named the disease rhinogenic granuloma, which mainly affects the arteries and kidneys, and named it Wegener granulomatosis.
