Bleeding gastric ulcer
Bleeding from gastric and duodenal ulcers is also a common complication of ulcer disease. Small amounts of bleeding often have no clinical symptoms. It is only found during the stool occult blood test. When the amount of bleeding is greater than 500 ml, it is considered major bleeding, which is mainly manifested as vomiting blood, blood in the stool, and varying degrees of anemia. Among hospitalized patients with ulcer disease, about 10% are hospitalized due to major bleeding. Although bleeding accounts for the largest proportion of all complications, the proportion of bleeding in complications of peptic ulcer has increased recently.
