Nocardiosis is a purulent granulomatous disease caused by Nocardia. The lungs are the most commonly affected organ, with pulmonary and systemic nocardiosis accounting for about 85% of all nocardiosis. About half of pulmonary nocardiosis cases are accompanied by extrapulmonary lesions, while extrapulmonary nocardiosis causes dissemination in only one-fifth of cases.
