Gastroesophageal reflux disease
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a esophageal gastric motility disease. During the relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus is called gastroesophageal reflux (GER). There are two types of reflux in the gastroesophageal tract: physiological reflux and pathological reflux. Physiological reflux is caused by spontaneous relaxation of the LES, which is conducive to the discharge of gas in the stomach. The esophagus will have a propulsive peristalsis to push gastric juice into the stomach, and under normal circumstances, it will not cause damage to the esophageal membrane. Pathological reflux is a pathological phenomenon caused by gastroesophageal anti-reflux insufficiency caused by multiple factors. Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a disease caused by the reflux of gastric or duodenal contents into the esophagus. It is often combined with esophagitis. About 10%-20% of the population has symptoms of gastric reflux, but X-ray endoscopic examinations may not show abnormalities and may not be recognized for a long time. Continuous development can lead to serious complications, such as esophageal stenosis, ulcers, bleeding and Barrett's esophagus, the latter of which is a precancerous lesion. Extraesophageal complications may also occur. Such as acid laryngitis, respiratory tract spasm, lung damage complications, etc.
