Anal fissure
Anal fissures are small ulcers in the entire layer of the anal skin below the dentate line. They are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the anal canal, about 0.5 to 1.0 cm long, fusiform or oval, difficult to heal, and a common cause of severe pain in the anal canal in young and middle-aged people. Superficial lacerations of the anal canal cannot be considered anal fissures because they can heal quickly and are often asymptomatic. Anal fissures often occur in the back and middle part of the anal canal. If there are anal fissures on the sides of the anal canal, or if there are multiple fissures, it should be considered that they may be early manifestations of intestinal inflammatory diseases.
