Skin and skin tissue infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillinase-producing strains) and Streptococcus pyogenes are uncomplicated, but abscesses usually require surgical drainage. Bacterial culture and susceptibility testing should be performed to determine the susceptibility of the pathogen to cefprozil when appropriate.
