Urogenital Mycoplasma Infection
With the continuous deepening of research and the emergence of new selective culture media, new types of mycoplasmas have increased. So far, mycoplasmas that can cause human sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or parasitize the human urogenital tract include mycoplasma urealyticum, mycoplasma hominis (MH), mycoplasma genitalium (MG), mycoplasma penetrans (MPe), mycoplasma fermentans (MF), mycoplasma salivarium (MS), mycoplasma spermatophilum (MSp) and mycoplasma primatum (MPr). There is evidence that these mycoplasmas (MH, MG) can cause human urogenital system infections and are common pathogens of non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU). It can cause urethritis, male infertility, chronic prostatitis, epididymitis, salpingitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, vaginitis, etc. Among them, Ureaplasma urealyticum is one of the important pathogens causing perinatal maternal and infant infections.
