Medullary thyroid cancer
Medullary thyroid carcinoma is not actually thyroid cancer. It originates from the thyroid parafollicular cells (also known as C cells) that secrete calcitonin. They are neuroendocrine cells and have nothing to do with thyroid follicular cells.
