Cardiofacial syndrome in children
Cardiofacial syndrome is also known as asymmetric crying face and congenital hypoplastic depressor anguli syndrome. It is characterized by hypoplasia or absence of the depressor anguli anguli, which causes asymmetry of the lower lips when the patient cries. This symptom was first reported by Hoefnagel in 1960. In 1969, Cayler found that patients with this syndrome often have cardiovascular malformations.
