Brucella infection
Brucellosis is an acute and chronic infectious disease caused by Brucella. It is also called Malta fever or undulant fever. Its clinical features include long-term fever, sweating, joint pain, orchitis, hepatosplenomegaly, etc. The pathogen is Gram-negative short coccus. It is widely prevalent in many countries in the world, with high incidence areas in the Mediterranean region, Asia, Central and South America, etc. There are about 500,000 new cases in the world each year. Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, the disease was prevalent. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, a special prevention and control agency was established, and the incidence rate has been significantly reduced. However, since 1994, human and animal brucellosis in my country has rebounded, and many areas that have been basically controlled have new human and animal brucellosis epidemics, such as Binzhou area of Shandong Province, Ci County of Hebei Province, Shanxi Province, Liaoning Province, etc. The main reason for the rebound in the epidemic is "free trade, exchange and flow of livestock without quarantine." In addition, the relaxation of supervision, management and disinfection of livestock products such as milk and meat, the failure to timely and extensively immunize livestock, the laxity of the prevention and control team, and the laxity and paralysis of the prevention and control of brucellosis are all important reasons. Therefore, we must strengthen the prevention and control of brucellosis in order to achieve the goal of long-term basic control across the country.

When culture and susceptibility information are available, they should be considered in selecting or modifying antibacterial therapy. In the absence of such data, local epidemiology and susceptibility patterns may contribute to the empiric selection of therapy.
