Hydatidiform mole
The so-called hydatidiform mole is the edema and degeneration of the villi that make up the placenta, forming many blisters of varying sizes, like bunches of grapes. The incidence of hydatidiform mole accounts for about one thousandth of the total number of pregnancies, and it most often occurs in women who become pregnant after the age of 40, especially menopausal women. Hydatidiform mole is the disappearance of microvessels in the villous matrix, resulting in accumulation of fluid in the villous matrix, forming bubbles of varying sizes, resembling grapes. There are complete and partial hydatidiform moles, and most of them are complete hydatidiform moles. The clinical diagnosis of hydatidiform mole refers to complete hydatidiform mole; partial hydatidiform mole accompanied by placental tissue and/or fetus is called partial hydatidiform mole. In the tissue of spontaneous abortion, 40% of patients were found to have certain vesicular degeneration, but they were not diagnosed as hydatidiform mole.
