Metrorrhagia and metrostaxis refer to non-cyclical uterine bleeding in women. The onset of metrorrhagia and metrostaxis is sudden, violent, and heavy bleeding, which is called "metrorrhagia"; the onset of metrorrhagia and metrostaxis is slow, with less bleeding and continuous bleeding, which is called "leakage". Although metrorrhagia and metrostaxis are different in terms of bleeding, they often transform into each other during the course of the disease. For example, if the amount of metrorrhagia decreases, it may turn into leakage, and if the leakage develops, it may turn into metrorrhagia. Therefore, they are often referred to together in clinical practice. It is more common in adolescent and menopausal women.
