Osteomas often occur in bones that form intramembranous bones, most commonly in craniofacial bones, which are called paraosteomatous osteomas; occasionally they occur in soft tissues, which are called extraosseous osteomas. Intramembranous osteomas may stop growing as the bones mature, and there is no malignant transformation, and their prognosis is generally good. However, osteomas in the cervical spine are extremely rare. In addition, multiple osteomas combined with intestinal polyposis are called Garder syndrome, which is hereditary. Osteoma is a benign tumor formed by excessive proliferation of bone tissue due to abnormal periosteal osteogenesis. Wills (1953) and Paron (1964) believed that it was not a true tumor, but a hamartoma, and some believed that it was an abnormal dense proliferation of bone tissue.
