Methylcobalamin is an endogenous coenzyme B12. It plays an important role as a coenzyme of methionine synthase in the transmethylation reaction of homocysteine to methionine. It is easily transferred to the organelles of nerve cells, thereby promoting the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins. It promotes axonal transport and axonal regeneration. In experiments, it participates in the process of synthesizing thymidine from deoxyuridine, promotes the utilization of folic acid and the metabolism of nucleic acids, and promotes the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins more than cyanocobalamin.

Animal experiments have shown that this product can reduce the increase of serum AST and ALT in the animal acute liver injury model caused by TAA (thioacetamide) and CC14 (carbon tetrachloride), and inhibit the accumulation of triglycerides caused by chronic liver injury model; it can promote liver glycogen synthesis, inhibit the increase of cholesterol, and help the recovery of serum albumin/globulin ratio.
