It has high antibacterial activity against common aerobic Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus (including those resistant to penicillin G), Staphylococcus epidermidis, beta-hemolytic Streptococcus, viridans Streptococcus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It has good antibacterial effect on anaerobic bacteria, including Clostridium diphtheriae, and Clostridium perfringens. It has no activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as Enterococcus, meningococci, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Haemophilus influenzae, as well as fungi. There is no cross-resistance between this product and penicillin, chloramphenicol, cephalosporins and tetracyclines, and there is partial cross-resistance with macrolides. This product acts on the 50S subunit of the ribosome of sensitive bacteria, preventing the extension of the peptide chain, thereby inhibiting the protein synthesis of bacterial cells. It is generally an antibacterial agent, but at high concentrations, it also has a bactericidal effect on certain bacteria.

This product is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist, which blocks the effect of histamine on the H2-receptor of parietal cells through a competitive inhibition mechanism. It inhibits basal gastric acid secretion during the day and at night, and inhibits gastric acid secretion caused by food, histamine, pentagastrin, caffeine and insulin. In addition, cimetidine is a powerful inhibitor of irritant gastric acid secretion. When the blood drug concentration reaches a certain level, it can significantly inhibit gastric acid secretion, while reducing gastric juice secretion and pepsin activity.

This product is a long-acting non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It can inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenase and reduce the synthesis of prostaglandins. Animal experiments show that the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of this product are weaker than indomethacin, but stronger than aspirin.
