Appearance

This product is white or off-white tablets.

Indication

It is mainly used to treat mania, and has a good effect on treating and preventing relapses of bipolar disorder with alternating manic and depressive episodes, and also has a preventive effect on recurrent depression. It is also used to treat schizoaffective psychosis.

Usage and Dosage

The oral dose should be gradually increased and adjusted according to the blood lithium concentration. During the treatment period, the dose is 0.9-1.5 g (3-5 tablets) per day, taken in 1-2 times. For maintenance treatment, the dose is 0.6-0.9 g (2-3 tablets) per day.

Adverse Reactions

Common adverse reactions include dry mouth, thirst, polydipsia, polyuria, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and upper abdominal pain. Adverse reactions of the nervous system include fine tremors in both hands, malaise, weakness, drowsiness, blurred vision, and hyperreflexia of tendons. It can cause an increase in white blood cells. Aggravation of the above adverse reactions may be a precursor to poisoning and should be closely observed.

Precautions

It is contraindicated in patients with renal insufficiency or severe heart disease.

Drug Interactions

1. When this product is used in combination with aminophylline, caffeine or sodium bicarbonate, it can increase the urine excretion of this product, reduce the blood concentration and efficacy. 2. When this product is used in combination with chlorpromazine and other phenothiazine derivatives, the blood concentration of chlorpromazine can be reduced. 3. When this product is used in combination with iodide, it can induce hypothyroidism. 4. When this product is used in combination with norepinephrine, the latter's pressor effect is reduced. 5. When this product is used in combination with muscle relaxants (such as succinylcholine, etc.), the muscle relaxant effect is enhanced and the duration of action is prolonged. 6. When this product is used in combination with piroxicam, it can lead to excessive blood lithium concentration and poisoning.
