Personality disorder, also known as pathological personality or abnormal personality, refers to the abnormal development of personality, forming a unique and obvious cognitive behavior pattern that deviates from the social and cultural background and the majority of people. The deviation of personality characteristics makes it difficult to adapt to the environment, which obviously interferes with their social and professional functions, resulting in the inability of the person to maintain harmonious interpersonal relationships and difficulty adapting to social life. Not only does it bring harm to others, but the person himself is also deeply harmed or suffers. Pathological personality was originally a broad concept, referring to all types of abnormal personality. Later, some scholars found that the original definition of pathological personality was consistent with the current name of antisocial personality, and thus the narrow concept of pathological personality emerged, specifically referring to antisocial personality, and proposed to replace the broad concept of pathological personality with personality disorders.
