Droperidol

The pharmacological action is basically the same as that of haloperidol. It is characterized by rapid metabolism in the body and a short duration of action. It is clinically used to treat acute psychomotor excitement manic state of schizophrenia. The drug's tranquilizing effect and enhanced analgesic effect are also used. It is injected intravenously together with the strong analgesic fentanyl to produce a special anesthesia state (mental confusion, reduced activity, insomnia, and loss of pain), which is called neurosedative analgesia. It is used for surgical anesthesia and can be used for some minor operations, such as large-area dressing changes for burns, various endoscopic examinations and angiography, etc. It can also be used as a pre-anesthetic drug, with good anti-stress, anti-emetic, and anti-shock effects.

This product is a colorless or slightly yellow clear liquid.

1. Used for the excited state of schizophrenia and mania. 2. This product has a neuroleptic effect and enhances the analgesic effect of analgesics. When combined with fentanyl for intravenous injection, it can produce a special anesthetic state in the patient, called neuroleptic analgesia, which is used for dressing changes for large-area burns and various endoscopic examinations.

For controlling the excitement and agitation of acute psychosis: 5-10 mg per day by intramuscular injection. For neurosedation and analgesia: 5 mg is added with 0.1 mg of fentanyl citrate and slowly injected intravenously within 2-3 minutes.

1. Extrapyramidal reactions are more severe and common. Acute dystonia is more likely to occur in children and adolescents, with obvious torsion spasms, dysphagia, akathisia and Parkinson's disease. 2. Dry mouth, blurred vision, fatigue, constipation, sweating, etc. may occur. 3. It may cause an increase in the concentration of prolactin in plasma. Possible related symptoms include: galactorrhea, gynecomastia, menstrual disorders, and amenorrhea. 4. A small number of patients may experience depressive reactions. 5. It may cause local redness, swelling, pain, and nodules at the injection site. 6. It rarely causes hypotension. 7. Allergic rashes and malignant syndrome are occasionally seen.

Patients with basal ganglia lesions, Parkinson's disease, Parkinson's syndrome, severe central nervous system depression, depression and allergic to this product.

When this product is used in combination with ethanol or other central nervous system depressants, the central nervous system depressant effect is enhanced. When this product is used in combination with antihypertensive drugs, it is easy to cause postural hypotension.
