Function and Efficacy
This product is a quinolone antibacterial drug that acts on bacterial DNA gyrase to interfere with bacterial DNA synthesis, thereby causing bacterial death. It has antibacterial effects on Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus mirabilis, Serratia, Salmonella typhi, Shigella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc.

Piperidic acid. Its chemical name is: 8-ethyl-5-oxo-5,8-dihydro-2-(1-piperazinyl)pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-6-carboxylic acid trihydrate.

Appearance
This product is a capsule containing slightly yellow or light yellow crystalline powder; odorless, bitter taste
Indication
Used for urinary tract infections and bacterial intestinal infections caused by sensitive Gram-negative bacteria.
Usage and Dosage
Adults take 0.5g orally at a time and 1 to 2g per day.
Adverse Reactions
This product has low toxicity, and the main adverse reactions are gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea, belching, upper abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, loose stools or constipation. Rashes or systemic itching are rare; dizziness, headache, transient increase in serum aminotransferase, etc. are occasionally seen. The above adverse reactions are all mild and can recover on their own after stopping the drug.
Precautions
It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to this product and nalidixic acid.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: The safety of this product in infants and adolescents under 18 years of age has not been established. However, this product can cause joint lesions when used in several young animals. Therefore, it is not suitable for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Pimidic acid capsules can inhibit the development of cartilage in young animals, and pregnant and lactating women should not use it. Precautions for the elderly: The dosage of elderly patients should be adjusted according to renal function.
Drug Interactions
1. Probenecid can inhibit the renal tubular secretion of this product. When used together, the latter's blood concentration increases and the half-life is prolonged. 2. This product can reduce the clearance of caffeine from the liver, prolonging the latter's half-life. Avoid using it together, or monitor the blood concentration of caffeine. 3. This product can significantly reduce the clearance of theophylline, causing the latter's blood concentration to increase, which is prone to toxic reactions. The two should not be used together. If they need to be used together, theophylline concentration should be monitored and the dosage should be adjusted. 4. It often has a synergistic effect with gentamicin, carbenicillin, penicillin, etc.
