Butorphanol tartrate injection

Function and Efficacy

This product and its main metabolites stimulate Kndash; opioid peptide receptors, and have both stimulatory and antagonistic effects on Undash; receptors. It mainly interacts with these receptors in the central nervous system (CNS) to indirectly exert its pharmacological effects, including analgesia. In addition to analgesia, the effects on the CNS include reducing spontaneous breathing of the respiratory system, coughing, exciting the vomiting center, miosis, sedation and other pharmacological effects. Its effects may be achieved through non-CNS mechanisms. Such as changing the resistance and capacitance of the heart and blood vessels (nerves), bronchial motor tension, gastrointestinal secretion, motor muscle activity and bladder sphincter activity. The analgesic effect of this product generally starts after a few minutes of intravenous injection and 10 to 15 minutes of intramuscular injection. It reaches its peak after 30 to 60 minutes of intravenous injection and intramuscular injection, and the maintenance time is 3 to 4 hours, which is equivalent to morphine, meperidine and pentazocine.

Ingredients

The main ingredient of this product is butorphanol tartrate. Its chemical name is: L-rotatory (-) 17-cyclobutylmethyl 3, 14-dihydroxymorphinan D (-) tartrate (1:1) salt.

Appearance

This product is a colorless clear liquid.

Indication

Used to treat various cancer pains and postoperative pains.

Usage and Dosage

The intravenous injection dose is 1 mg (1 bottle), and the intramuscular injection dose is 1~2 mg (1~2 bottles). If necessary, the dose can be repeated every 3~4 hours. There is no sufficient clinical data to recommend a single dose exceeding 4 mg (4 bottles). Or follow the doctor's advice.

Adverse Reactions

Mainly drowsiness, dizziness, nausea and/or vomiting. Adverse reactions reported with an incidence of 1% or more that may be considered related to butorphanol tartrate: 1. Systemic: weakness, headache, feeling of heat. Cardiovascular system: vasodilation, palpitations. 2. Digestive system: loss of appetite, constipation, dry mouth, stomach pain. 3. Nervous system: anxiety, confusion, euphoria, floating, insomnia, nervousness, paresthesia, tremor. 4. Respiratory system: bronchitis, cough, dyspnea, epistaxis, nasal congestion, nasal irritation, rhinitis, sinusitis, sinus congestion, pharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection. 5. Skin: sweating/clammy, itching. Special senses: blurred vision, earache, tinnitus, abnormal taste. Adverse reactions reported with an incidence of less than 1% that may be considered related to butorphanol tartrate

Precautions

1. Patients who are allergic to this product or other ingredients in this product are prohibited from using this product. 2. Due to the antagonistic characteristics of opioids, this product is not suitable for patients who are dependent on narcotine. 3. Patients under 18 years old are prohibited from using this product.

Drug Interactions

1. While using butorphanol, the use of central nervous system depressants [such as alcohol, barbiturates (hypnotic sedatives), tranquilizers and antihistamines] will lead to an increase in the inhibitory effect of the central nervous system. When used in combination with these drugs that enhance the effects of opioids, the dosage of butorphanol should be the minimum effective dose, and the subsequent dose should be reduced as much as possible. 2. It is not yet certain whether the combined use of drugs that affect liver metabolism (such as cimetidine, erythromycin, theophylline, etc.) will affect the effect of butorphanol, but physicians should pay attention to reducing the initial dose and extending the interval between administrations. 3. Whether the use of butorphanol and MAO (monoamine oxidase) blockers at the same time will affect each other has not been confirmed.

Storage

Keep away from light and store at room temperature (10-30℃).
