Amoxicillin Sodium and Sulbactam Sodium for Injection

Function and Efficacy

This product is a compound preparation composed of amoxicillin sodium and sulbactam sodium in a 2:1 ratio. Amoxicillin and ampicillin have similar anti-sensitive microbial effects, mainly acting on their reproduction stage. It works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of cell wall mucopolypeptides; sulbactam sodium can inhibit beta-lactamase (type II to type IV) produced by most bacteria, and its stability is better than other beta-lactamase inhibitors. It can quickly penetrate the bacterial cell wall and irreversibly destroy beta-lactamase, so that bacteria can regain sensitivity to amoxicillin. In vitro tests and clinical use results have shown that amoxicillin is effective against most of the following microorganisms; Gram-positive aerobic microorganisms: fecal streptococci, Staphylococcus (limited to beta-lactamase negative bacteria), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus (limited to alpha and beta hemolytic strains). Gram-negative aerobic microorganisms: Escherichia coli (limited to beta-lactamase-negative strains), Haemophilus influenzae (limited to beta-lactamase-negative strains), Neisseria gonorrhoeae (limited to beta-lactamase-negative strains), Proteus mirabilis (limited to beta-lactamase-negative strains).

Indication

This product contains β-lactamase inhibitor - sulbactam, which is suitable for the following infectious diseases caused by enzyme-producing resistant bacteria, including: 1. Upper respiratory tract infection: such as ear, nose and throat infection, namely otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis and pharyngitis. 2. Lower respiratory tract infection: such as pneumonia, acute bronchitis and acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, empyema, lung abscess; 3. Urinary and reproductive system infection: such as pyelonephritis, cystitis and urethritis; 4. Skin and soft tissue infection: such as cellulitis, wound infection, furunculosis, purulent dermatitis and impetigo; sexually transmitted diseases; gonorrhea, etc. 5. Pelvic infection: gynecological infection, postpartum infection, etc.; 6. Oral abscess: such as surgical medication, etc.; 7. Severe systemic infection: such as meningitis, bacterial endocarditis, peritonitis, osteomyelitis, typhoid and paratyphoid fever, prevention of endocarditis, etc.

Usage and Dosage

Intravenous drip: Dissolve with appropriate amount of injection water or sodium chloride injection before use, then add 100ml of 0.9% sodium chloride injection and drip intravenously. Each drip time should be no less than 30 to 40 minutes. Adult dose: 0.75 (0.5g amoxicillin, 0.25g sulbactam) to 1.5g (1.0g amoxicillin, 0.5g sulbactam) each time, 3 to 4 times a day. The dose can be increased according to the condition, but the maximum daily dose of sulbactam should not exceed 4.0g.

Adverse Reactions

This product is usually well tolerated, and common adverse reactions are: 1. Gastrointestinal reactions: such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, etc.; 2. Skin reactions: erythematous maculopapular lesions, urticaria, etc.; 3. Allergic reactions: such as rash, lip swelling and oral mucosal ulceration, etc.; 4. Others: transient SGPT increase, etc. The above gastrointestinal reactions and skin reactions are more common in hypersensitive patients, which are generally mild and short-lived, and will disappear automatically or after stopping the drug. People who are allergic to penicillin may have severe allergic reactions.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to penicillins.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Most penicillins have been used in pediatric patients, and no special problems have been found so far. Incomplete renal function development in newborns and infants under 6 months may slow down the excretion of penicillin through the urinary tract. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: The safety of this product for pregnant women has not been established, and this product should be used only when necessary: Since a small amount of amoxicillin can be secreted in breast milk, it may cause allergies in infants after breastfeeding mothers take it, so breastfeeding women should use it with caution. Precautions for the elderly: Use the same medication as adults. Reduce the dosage for those with renal insufficiency.

Drug Interactions

Probenecid, aspirin, indomethacin, sulfonamides, etc. can reduce the secretion of amoxicillin by the renal tubules, reduce the excretion of amoxicillin, and increase the blood concentration of amoxicillin. Chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracycline, and sulfonamide antibiotics can affect the bactericidal effect of penicillin and should not be used in combination with this product. This product is incompatible with heavy metals, especially copper, zinc, and mercury.

Storage

Keep tightly closed in a cool, dark and dry place.
