Chorionic Gonadotropin for Injection

The effect of chorionic gonadotropin is very similar to that of luteinizing hormone secreted by the pituitary gland. It can promote and maintain the function of the corpus luteum in women and make the corpus luteum synthesize progesterone. When used in combination with urogonadotropin containing follicle maturation hormone (FSH), it can promote the formation and maturation of follicles and simulate the peak of physiological luteinizing hormone to trigger ovulation. For men, it can make the testicles of those with insufficient pituitary gonadotropin function produce androgens, promote the descent of the testicles of children with cryptorchidism and the development of male secondary sexual characteristics.

This product is a sterile freeze-dried product of chorionic gonadotropin with appropriate excipients. Its potency should be 80% to 125% of the labeled amount. Excipients are: mannitol, dextran 40, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate.

1. Diagnosis and treatment of cryptorchidism before puberty. 2. Male infertility caused by hypopituitarism can be used in combination with urinary gonadotropins. Those with long-term hypogonadotropin function should also be treated with testosterone. 3. Female anovulatory infertility caused by pituitary gonadotropin deficiency is often treated with clomiphene in combination with postmenopausal gonadotropins to promote ovulation. 4. For in vitro fertilization to obtain multiple oocytes, it needs to be used in combination with postmenopausal gonadotropins. 5. Treatment of female corpus luteum insufficiency. 6. Functional uterine bleeding, threatened abortion in early pregnancy, and habitual abortion.

1. Adult dosage: (1) For hypogonadism caused by insufficient gonadotropin function in men, 1000-4000 units are injected intramuscularly 2-3 times a week for several weeks to several months. To promote spermatogenesis, treatment needs to continue for 6 months or longer. If the sperm count is less than 5 million/ml, urinary gonadotropins should be used in combination for about 12 months. (2) For ovulation induction, for female anovulatory infertility or in vitro fertilization, 5000-10000 units are injected intramuscularly once a day after the last dose of postmenopausal gonadotropins or 5-7 days after the last dose of clomiphene. Continuous treatment for 3-6 cycles, if no effect is discontinued. (3) For luteal insufficiency, 1500 units are injected every other day from the date of ovulation on the 15th to 17th day of the menstrual period, for 5 consecutive times. The dose can be adjusted according to the patient's response. After pregnancy, the original dose must be maintained until 7-10 weeks of pregnancy. (4) Functional uterine bleeding: 1000-3000 units intramuscular injection. Habitual abortion, threatened abortion: 1000-5000 units intramuscular injection. 2. Pediatric dosage: (1) Testicular function test for developmentally retarded patients: 2000 units intramuscular injection once a day for 3 consecutive days. (2) Prepubertal cryptorchidism: 1000-5000 units intramuscular injection 2-3 times a week. Stop using once good effects are seen. The total number of injections should not exceed 10 times.

1. When used to promote ovulation, the most common symptoms are ovarian cysts or mild to moderate ovarian enlargement, accompanied by mild bloating, stomach pain, and pelvic pain, which can generally subside within 2 to 3 weeks. Rarely, severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is caused. Due to the significant increase in vascular permeability, body fluids accumulate rapidly in the chest, abdominal and pericardial cavities, causing a variety of complications, such as decreased blood volume, electrolyte imbalance, hemoconcentration, abdominal hemorrhage, thrombosis, etc. Clinical manifestations include severe pain in the abdomen or pelvic region, indigestion, edema, decreased urine volume, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, shortness of breath, swelling of the lower limbs, etc. It often occurs 7 to 10 days after ovulation or after the end of treatment. Severe reactions can be life-threatening. 2. When used to treat cryptorchidism, male precocious puberty may occasionally occur, manifested as acne, enlarged penis and testicles, increased pubic hair growth, and rapid height growth. 3. Less common adverse reactions include: breast enlargement, headache, irritability, depression, and fatigue. 4. Occasionally, there may be local pain and allergic rash after injection. 5. Using this product to promote ovulation may increase the rate of multiple births or premature births of newborns.

Patients suspected of pituitary hyperplasia or tumors, prostate cancer or other androgen-related tumors are contraindicated (it may promote the effect). Patients with precocious puberty, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts or ovarian enlargement, thrombophlebitis, and a history of allergy to gonadotropins are also contraindicated.

When used in combination with pituitary gonadotropin (such as HMG), adverse reactions may increase and should be used with caution.
