Compound neomycin ointment

Function and Efficacy

1 Pharmacology The main ingredients of compound neomycin ointment are neomycin and bacitracin. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that has good antibacterial effects on Enterobacteriaceae such as Staphylococcus (methicillin-sensitive strains), Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, etc., and has poor activity against various groups of streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, enterococci, etc. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobic bacteria are resistant to this product. Bacitracin is a polypeptide antibiotic that has a strong antibacterial effect on Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. It also has a certain effect on Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis and some spirochetes and actinomycetes. All Gram-negative rods are resistant. 2 Toxicology Systemic administration of neomycin can cause severe nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, and systemic administration of bacitracin can produce severe nephrotoxicity, so both are currently limited to local application.
