Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Infants and young children are sensitive to large or excessive amounts of vitamin A and should be used with caution. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. Pregnant women with hypercalcemia may be sensitive to vitamin D, which can functionally inhibit parathyroid activity, resulting in special facial features, mental retardation, and hereditary aortic arch stenosis in infants. 2. Infants who are fully breastfed are prone to vitamin D deficiency, especially infants of mothers with dark skin. Infants have large individual differences in sensitivity to vitamin D, and some infants are very sensitive to small doses of vitamin D. 3. The need for vitamin A increases slightly during pregnancy, but it should not exceed 6,000 units per day. Precautions for the elderly: Long-term use of vitamin A by the elderly may lead to vitamin A overdose due to delayed clearance of retinal aldehydes.
Drug Interactions
1 Oral contraceptives can increase the concentration of plasma vitamin A. 2 When taken together with vitamin E, it can increase the absorption of vitamin A, increase its storage in the liver, accelerate its utilization and reduce toxicity, but large amounts of vitamin E can consume the storage of vitamin A in the body. 3 Taking large amounts of vitamin A together with anticoagulants (such as coumarin or indandione derivatives) can lead to a decrease in prothrombin. 4 Cholestyramine, mineral oil, neomycin, and sucralfate can interfere with the absorption of vitamin A in this product. 5 Antacids (such as aluminum hydroxide) can affect the absorption of vitamin A in this product, so they should not be taken together. 6 It should not be taken with injectable calcium preparations or magnesium oxide,
