Retinol Use and Manufacturing

Methods of Manufacturing

Vitamin A can be refined from cod liver oil by molecular distillation and chromatography, but the method of obtaining the finished product is chemical synthesis. Usually Iserl route (ie tetradecaldehyde route) is used, that is, β-ionone and ethyl monochloroacetate are condensed in sodium methoxide medium, hydrolyzed in sodium hydroxide and methanol, and decarboxylated to obtain tetradecaldehyde. In addition, sodium acetylene and methyl ketene are condensed below -40°C to form 3-methylpentyne (4) ene (2) alcohol (1), which is then subjected to Grignard reaction with ethyl magnesium olfactory to make double olfactory magnesium compound , Followed by condensation and hydrolysis with tetradecaldehyde to obtain hydroxydehydrovitamin A, and then catalyzed hydrogenation to obtain hydroxyvitamin A, and acetyl chloride in pyridine to obtain hydroxyvitamin acetate, and then sniff under alkaline (soda ash) conditions Vitamin acetate can be obtained by chemical deodorization.
