Indication
Used to treat refractory schizophrenia.
Usage and Dosage
This product is used twice a day or once a day. Common dosage: The first dose is 1 mg (one tablet), twice a day. If tolerated, increase the frequency of 1 mg each time, twice a day on the second and third days. The target dose is reached on the third day: 3 mg each time, twice a day. Some patients may need to increase the dose slowly. 8 mg each time, once a day is also safe and effective. The dosage adjustment time should not be less than one week, increasing or decreasing 1-2 mg each time. The effective dose is 4-16 mg/day, and 4-8 mg/day produces the maximum effect.
Adverse Reactions
1. Common adverse reactions associated with taking this product are: insomnia, anxiety, agitation, headache, and dry mouth. 2. Less common adverse reactions are: drowsiness, fatigue, decreased concentration, constipation, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, blurred vision, abnormal penile erection, erectile dysfunction, weak ejaculation, sexual apathy, urinary incontinence, rhinitis, rash, and other allergic reactions. 3. It may cause extrapyramidal symptoms, such as: muscle tension, tremor, rigidity, drooling, bradykinesia, akathisia, and acute dystonia. These can be eliminated by reducing the dose or administering anti-Parkinson's syndrome drugs. 4. Occasionally, symptoms of (postural) hypotension, (reflex) tachycardia, or hypertension may occur. 5. Weight gain, edema, and elevated liver enzyme levels may occur. 6. In foreign clinical studies, risperidone tablets were reported to treat elderly patients (average age 85 years old) with dementia-related psychiatric symptoms. The incidence of cerebrovascular adverse events, such as stroke and transient ischemic attacks, including deaths, was significantly higher than that of placebo. 7. Occasionally, water intoxication may occur due to the patient's thirst or dysregulation of antidiuretic hormone secretion (sIADH). 8. It may cause an increase in plasma prolactin concentration, and its related symptoms are: galactorrhea, gynecomastia, menstrual disorders, and amenorrhea. 9. Occasionally, tardive dyskinesia, malignant syndrome, temperature disorders, and epileptic seizures are seen. 10. There are individual reports of mild decreases in neutrophil and/or platelet counts.
