Function and Efficacy
Animal studies have shown that dihydroergoline mesylate changes brain neurotransmission, and data show that it has an excitatory effect on dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine receptors and a blocking effect on alpha-adrenergic receptors. It improves impaired brain metabolic function and shortens brain circulation time, an effect reflected in changes in brain electrical activity, with significant changes in the power spectrum of the electroencephalogram (EEG).

Indication
It is mainly used to improve the symptoms and physical signs of mental degeneration related to aging, and the symptoms of functional and intellectual decline after acute and chronic cerebrovascular diseases.
Usage and Dosage
Oral administration. 1-2 mg at a time, 3-6 mg per day, before meals, the course of treatment is as prescribed by the doctor.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally, nasal congestion, temporary nausea and stomach discomfort may occur, but this can usually be prevented by taking the drug with food. In most cases, no special measures are required and the side effects disappear. The dosage can be adjusted if necessary.
