Gadopentetate Diglucamide Injection

Function and Efficacy

This product is a paramagnetic contrast agent used for magnetic resonance imaging. After entering the body, it can shorten the T1 and T2 relaxation times of protons in tissues, thereby enhancing image clarity and contrast.

Ingredients

Gadopentetate dimeglumine

Indication

MRI enhancement of the central nervous system and other parts. For normal brain tissue, there is no enhancement due to the presence of the blood-brain barrier; but the dura mater, choroid plexus, and pituitary gland may be enhanced. In addition to the central nervous system, other parts can also be applied. It can significantly increase the signal intensity of liver cancer and hepatic vascular cysts; distinguish liver cysts from normal liver tissue; diagnose or differentiate acute, subacute and chronic myocardial infarction, congenital heart disease, and dissecting aneurysms; it is also helpful for the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, breast cancer, and kidney tumors.

Usage and Dosage

Intravenous injection. For adults and children over 2 years old, 0.2 ml/kg (or 0.1 mmol/kg) per body weight, the maximum dose is 0.4 ml/kg per body weight. 1 Brain and spinal cord MRI: If necessary, the dose can be repeated within 30 minutes. 2 Whole body MRI: To obtain adequate enhancement, 0.4 ml/kg per body weight can be administered once. The best enhancement time is generally within 45 minutes after injection. To exclude adult lesions or tumor recurrence, the dose can be increased to 0.6 ml/kg per body weight to increase the reliability of the diagnosis.

Adverse Reactions

Magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents have very few adverse reactions. Some patients may experience facial flushing, urticaria, nausea, vomiting, abnormal taste, mild heat and pain at the injection site, bronchospasm, palpitations, dizziness, headache, chills, convulsions, hypotension and other adverse reactions after administration. Some patients may experience allergic reactions, laryngeal edema, shock and other reactions. There are also reports of rapid deterioration of myasthenia gravis.
