Thrombin

It promotes the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin, which is applied to wounds to cause blood coagulation and stop bleeding.

This product is a sterile lyophilized product of prothrombin extracted from bovine or pig blood and activated to obtain thrombin. The potency of each 1mg should not be less than 10 units. The thrombin content should be more than 80% of the labeled amount.

This product is a white or off-white freeze-dried mass or powder. Each ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution containing 500 units may be slightly turbid.

Used for stopping bleeding from small blood vessels that are difficult to ligate during surgery, gastrointestinal bleeding, and bleeding from trauma, etc.

1. For local hemostasis, dissolve sterile sodium chloride injection into a solution of 50-200 units/ml and spray it, or use the dry powder of this product to spray on the wound. 2. For gastrointestinal hemostasis, dissolve it into a solution of 10-100 units/ml with normal saline or warm water (not exceeding 37°C), take it orally or locally by infusion. The concentration and number of times can also be increased or decreased according to the site and degree of bleeding.

1. It may occasionally cause allergic reactions and the drug should be discontinued immediately; 2. There have been reports of low-grade fever reactions when this product was used in surgical hemostasis.

Patients with a history of allergy to this product are contraindicated.

Precautions for children: This product has not been tested and there is no reliable reference. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Pregnant women can only use it when there are obvious indications and the condition requires it. Precautions for the elderly: This product has not been tested and there is no reliable reference.

1. This product will react with acid, alkali and heavy metals and reduce its efficacy; 2. To improve the hemostatic effect of upper gastrointestinal bleeding, it is advisable to take a certain amount of antacid to neutralize gastric acid before taking this product orally, or give acid inhibitors intravenously at the same time; 3. This product can also be dissolved in phosphate buffer (pH 7.6) or cold milk. If a latex solution is prepared with gum arabic, gelatin, fructose gum, honey, etc., the hemostatic effect of thrombin can be improved, and the dosage of this product can be appropriately reduced.
