Function and Efficacy

Indication
It is used as a short-term supportive treatment for heart failure caused by decreased myocardial contractility in patients with organic heart disease, including low output syndrome caused by open heart surgery.
Usage and Dosage
The commonly used dose for adults is dobutamine diluted in 5% glucose solution or 0.9% sodium chloride injection, and then given at a drip rate of 2.5-10ug/kg per minute. At doses below 15ug/kg per minute, heart rate and peripheral vascular resistance remain basically unchanged; occasionally >15ug/kg per minute is used, but it should be noted that excessive doses may still accelerate the heart rate and produce arrhythmias.
Adverse Reactions
There may be palpitations, nausea, headache, chest pain, shortness of breath, etc. If systolic blood pressure increases (mostly by 1.33-2.67Kpa (10-20mmHg), a few by 6.67Kpa (50mmHg) or more), heart rate increases (mostly by 5-10 beats per minute, a few by more than 30 beats per minute), it is related to the dosage and the dosage should be reduced or the medication should be suspended.
Drug Interactions
1. When used with general anesthetics, especially cyclopropane and halothane, the possibility of ventricular arrhythmias increases. 2. When used with beta-blockers, it can antagonize the effect of this product on beta-1 receptors, resulting in the dominance of alpha receptors and an increase in the total resistance of peripheral blood vessels. 3. When used with sodium nitroprusside, it can lead to a slight increase in cardiac output and a slight decrease in pulmonary wedge pressure. 4. This product must not be mixed with alkaline drugs such as sodium bicarbonate.
