Cefdinir Capsules

Function and Efficacy

Antibacterial effect: It has a wide range of antibacterial spectrum against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus. It has stronger antibacterial activity than previous oral cephalosporins, and its mode of action is bactericidal. It is stable to beta-lactamase produced by various bacteria, and also has excellent antibacterial activity against beta-lactamase producing bacteria. Mechanism of action: It prevents the synthesis of bacterial cell wall, and its action point varies with the strain. It has strong affinity for the 1(1a, 1bs).2.3 position of penicillin binding protein (PBP). Non-clinical toxicology study: Acute and chronic toxicity studies on cefdinir in experimental animals such as rats and dogs have shown that cefdinir can be well tolerated. Cefdinir was not found to be teratogenic or mutagenic.

Indication

Various infections caused by strains of Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Peptostreptococcus, Propionibacterium, Gonorrhea, Burke's bacteria, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus mirabilis, Providencia, and Haemophilus influenzae that are sensitive to cefdinir.

Usage and Dosage

The normal dosage for adults is 1 tablet (100 mg potency) 3 times a day. The dosage can be increased or decreased according to age and symptoms.

Adverse Reactions

Shock: Shock may occur occasionally, so close observation is required. The drug should be discontinued when there are symptoms such as discomfort, abnormal sensation in the mouth, wheezing, dizziness, urge to defecate, tinnitus, sweating, etc. Allergies: When allergic symptoms such as rash, urticaria, erythema, itching, fever, etc. occur, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be carried out. Blood: Granulocytopenia and eosinophilia may occur occasionally. The drug should be discontinued when the above abnormalities are found. In addition, there are reports that other cephalosporin antibiotics have caused hemolytic anemia. Liver: S-GOT, S-GPT, and ALP may increase occasionally. Kidney: BUN may increase occasionally. In addition, there are reports that other cephalosporin antibiotics may occasionally cause severe renal dysfunction such as acute renal failure. When abnormalities are found, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be carried out. There are reports that other cephalosporin antibiotics have caused severe colitis such as pseudomembranous colitis with bloody stools. In addition, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, stomach discomfort, burning sensation, loss of appetite, constipation, etc. may occasionally occur. Respiratory tract: Other cephalosporin antibiotics may occasionally cause interstitial pneumonia, PIE syndrome, etc. accompanied by fever, cough, dyspnea, abnormal chest X-ray, eosinophilia, etc. When the above abnormalities are found, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be given, such as administration of adrenocortical hormones, etc. Dysbacteriosis: Occasionally, stomatitis and candidiasis may occur. Vitamin deficiency: Occasionally, vitamin K deficiency (hypoprothrombinemia, bleeding tendency, etc.) and B vitamin deficiency (glossitis, stomatitis, loss of appetite, neuritis, etc.) may occur. Others: Occasionally, headache, dizziness, and chest tightness may occur.

Precautions

Patients with a history of shock should not use this product, and patients with a history of allergy to penicillin or cephalosporin should use it with caution.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: The safety and effectiveness of newborns and infants less than 6 months old have not been evaluated. Adequate clinical studies on acute maxillary sinusitis in adults and adolescents provide sufficient support for the use of cefdinir in acute maxillary sinusitis in children, because the pathology of acute maxillary sinusitis in adults and children is similar, and the pharmacokinetic parameters of adults and children are also comparable. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Oral administration of >100 mg/kg/day to rats (70 times the human dose (by body weight), 11 times (by body surface area)). Oral administration of >10 mg/kg/day to rabbits (0.7 times the human dose (by body weight), 0.23 times (by body surface area)). There is no teratogenic effect. Oral administration of 10 mg/kg/day to rabbits observed maternal toxicity (weight loss), but no effect on offspring. When rats took ≥100 mg/kg/day, the weight of the fetus decreased and the weight of the offspring decreased. There is no effect on the reproductive capacity of the mother and the behavioral and reproductive capacity of the offspring. However, there is no sufficient research on pregnant women, and there is currently a lack of detailed research data. A single oral dose of 600 mg of cefdinir was taken by lactating women, and the product was not detected in breast milk, but there is currently a lack of detailed research data on whether it has any effect on infants. Similarly, there is currently a lack of detailed research data on taking cefdinir during childbirth and abortion. Note for the elderly: Cefdinir has similar efficacy for the elderly and young people. People of all ages have good tolerance to cefdinir. Clinical trials have shown that cefdinir has fewer side effects on the elderly, such as enteritis. Older patients do not need to adjust the dose. Unless there is severe renal dysfunction.
